Anurag University
Anurag University is a state private university located in Venkatapur, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Established in 2020 through Ordinance No. 1/2020 under the Telangana State Private Universities Act (Act No. 11 of 2018), it was one of the first private universities in the state.[^c1] The university evolved from the Anurag Group of Institutions, which grew out of educational institutions founded since the late 1990s under the Gayathri Educational and Cultural Trust (GECT), established in 1982. The institution grew from 180 students at its founding in 2002 to over 16,000 students by 2026.[^c28][^c22] It offers more than 50 programmes across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels through eight schools and the International College: Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Medical Sciences, Nursing, Liberal Arts, and International Studies.[^c3] Anurag University was the first institution in Telangana to launch a B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence, introduced in 2019.[^c25][^c29][^c30]
The campus spans over 100 acres in the eastern part of Hyderabad, featuring eight academic blocks, 151 classrooms, 141 laboratories, a central library, sports facilities, and separate hostel accommodation for men and women. The university serves over 16,000 students with more than 500 faculty members.[^c22] Its current vision is "to be the choicest destination of learning and transformation that fosters the next generations to discover their potential, ignite passion and shape pursuits," with a mission centred on building a dynamic learning environment through inquiry, experiential learning, industry collaboration, and social consciousness.[^c7][^c8]
Anurag University is accredited with an A grade by the NAAC, with a CGPA of 3.05. Its engineering programmes are accredited by the NBA in Tier-I, with Computer Science and Engineering re-accredited through June 2028. In the NIRF 2025 rankings, the university was placed in the 151–200 rank band for Universities and the 101–150 band for Engineering, with Pharmacy ranked 72.[^c17] The university has been recognised as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) by the DSIR and as a Host Institution by the Ministry of MSME for a Business Incubator.
The university has a strong placement record, securing over 10,000 job offers since 2021.[^c4] For the Class of 2026, the university reported a 97% placement rate with 2,100+ job offers, 920+ internships, a highest package of ₹53 LPA, and an average CTC of ₹6.5 LPA, with recruitment by over 200 companies.[^c26][^c6] Microsoft was named the top recruiter of the year.[^c27] In the 2024–2025 academic year, the university recorded 1,600+ offers with a highest package of ₹32 LPA and an average of ₹6.0 LPA.[^c5] Major recruiters include Microsoft, Amazon, JP Morgan Chase and Co., ServiceNow, Goldman Sachs, Accenture, PwC, and Cisco.
The university has an active research ecosystem with over 1,100 Scopus-indexed publications, 70 patents filed or granted, and nearly ₹8 crore in research funding across 34 grants. Research centres include the Centre for VLSI Chip Design, Centre for Renewable Energy, and the Centre for Construction Chemicals and Research Studies established in August 2025 with Rehab Technologies.[^c10] In December 2025, the university signed a research MoU with the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), a primary ISRO centre, enabling students to undertake projects at NRSC.[^c15] A collaboration with XDlinx Aerospace Labs was established in September 2025 for satellite development and student training.[^c16] In April 2025, the university hosted Anudhaban, a multi-country research event with partners from Singapore (NTU), Jordan, and the Netherlands, focusing on AI, NLP, and multidisciplinary innovation.[^c11] The university participated in the 75 Students' Satellites Mission, working on the student-built ANURAGsat under the technical guidance of former ISRO director Dr. Mayilsamy Annadurai.
Anurag University holds international partnerships including a dual-degree pathway with Arizona State University (ASU) with up to 40% cost savings through the Anurag University International College, and membership in the ASU-Cintana Alliance global network.[^c20][^c21] The university held its second convocation in 2025, conferring degrees to over 2,260 students across Engineering, Pharmacy, Management, Agricultural Sciences, and Medical Sciences, including 10 doctoral degrees and over 75 gold medals.[^c12] The third convocation in July 2026 conferred degrees to 2,789 graduates and included an Honorary Doctorate awarded to Padma Shri Chintakindi Mallesham, the grassroots handloom innovator.[^c23][^c24] In 2026, the university launched a specialised MBA in Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) in collaboration with KPMG in India.[^c13] An industry-academia bridge course for new recruits was established with MSN Laboratories in September 2025.[^c14] Actor Vijay Devarakonda serves as the university's brand ambassador, appointed during the Synergy 2K25 annual day celebration.[^c18] The university also hosts TEDxAnuragU and regular hackathons including the Generative AI Hackathon 2026 in collaboration with IEEE, NASSCOM Future Skills Prime, and Smart Bridge.[^c19]
