MJ0.6 (born Muiz Jimoh; August 8, 2003[^c13]) is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer from the West Side of Chicago whose music belongs to the drill tradition.[^c1][^c2] He describes himself as a "Melodic Trap" artist whose work addresses everyday struggles, loss, and heartbreak.[^c14] Emerging around 2020, he developed his craft independently during the COVID-19 lockdowns and released 18 songs between 2020 and 2022, with the most prolific period in 2021.[^c8][^c10][^c15] His stage name references the Black Disciples street gang's "06 Members" [[06 Members|nomenclature]], a tradition that has produced pioneering drill artists such as Chief Keef and Lil Durk.[^c17][^c18]
MJ0.6's music sits within the transatlantic drill diaspora that connects Chicago — where drill originated around 2011 — with London, where the genre was adapted into UK drill from 2012 onward.[^c6][^c7] By the mid-2020s, that pipeline had also produced a London-led "post-drill" movement; Peckham artist [[PS Hitsquad]] released his debut album Life on Licence on July 3, 2026, explicitly branded as "post-drill," redefining the Chicago template from a position of renewed influence.[^c20][^c21] At the same time, the use of drill lyrics as criminal evidence in UK courts drew mounting criticism from academics and legal advocates, who argued the practice is used regularly against young Black working-class defendants.[^c22] He has cited London rapper [[Dave]]'s album Psychodrama among his top three most influential albums and has expressed a public aspiration to collaborate with the South London artist.[^c3][^c4] His song "Rest In Piss" contains the refrain "Feel like Dave ah be a live," a direct lyrical reference to Dave.[^c5]
Operating as an independent artist, MJ0.6 maintains control over his production, songwriting, and visual direction.[^c11] He accumulated over half a million streams in his first year and describes providing for his younger siblings as the pinnacle of his career.[^c9][^c12] His career has also been shaped by police interference that has prevented him from performing in parts of Chicago.[^c16] In February 2025, he released the single "Armed & Dangerous" through L-M Records / RCA Records, accompanied by a music video that he directed, edited, and executive produced himself.[^c19]
